I predict a few petty criminals are going to get shot. But they're expendible, right?
If you really must have something to worry about, don't worry about terrorism. Worry about avian flu, particularly in an era when governments have renewed their faith in crackpot neo-classical economics.
RépondreSupprimerhonestly, this sounds so terrible of me BUT, a few petty criminals getting shot might make life easier to live. When a person cant put a halloween pumpkin on thier own front porch i think it means as a whole we have become to casual about petty criminals. Sitting in our minivan in front of my mothers home we watched teenages (in BROAD DAYLIGHT) walking home from school lifting door handles and opening mailboxes as they passed. sure they dont deserve death, but when petty criminals are ignored the lives of us law abiding (ok not the speed limit) folks are the ones who pay.
RépondreSupprimerI will quote you, dak-ind:
RépondreSupprimer"sure they don't deserve death".
That's the issue right here, right now. Opposing death for criminals(for anyone)doesn't mean one is 'pro-criminal'. In civilised societies, we have other ways of treating criminals than death, more democratic ways, but also more practical ways.
You are right dak-ind. It does sound terrible of you. The crime you complain about is nothing but a symptom. Kill all you like, you're not going to get to the cause of the crime. You are, however, likely to get yourself or your precious baby boy of yours shot either in the crossfire or in a case of mistaken identity.
RépondreSupprimerYou're so pessimistic Jez!

I'll take that as irony, Kats(-;
